Though the IBA will provide services and assistance to any exporter in the CenterState region, it has specifically targeted the following strong local sectors based on compelling overseas growth opportunities.

Data to Decisions

A cross sector group of the region’s strongest advanced manufacturers that create systems or components designed to process and manage massive flows of data and information. This sector includes strong exporters from these larger industries:

  • Computers and Electronics - Exports valued at $557.6 million in 2010 for the 12 County region with a growth rate of 1.4% from 2003-2010
  • Electrical Equipment - Exports valued at $121.2 million with a growth rate of -0.6%
  • Medical Equipment - Exports valued at $205.1 million with a growth rate of 9.1%

Data to Decisions also includes the Thermal and Environmental Control System (TECS) sub industry. It was estimated in 2012 that this sector had approximately $100 million in exports.  

Aerospace

An emerging export strength within the region, especially to export targets such as Brazil, the local Aerospace industry is made up of exporting companies from these industries:

  • Transportation Equipment - Exports valued at $486.0 million in 2010 for the 12 County region with a growth rate of 1.7 % from 2003-2010
  • Machinery - Exports valued at $802.1 million with a growth rate of 3.5%
  • Primary Metal Manufacturing - Exports valued at $375.5 million with a growth rate of -3.2%
  • Telecommunications Services - Exports valued at $54.4 million with a growth rate of 5.2%

 

Service Providers

The CenterState region is home to a strong concentration of service providers that are the backbone of employment and a strong driver of growth in the region. These include:

  • Business Services - Exports valued at $546 million in 2010 for the 12 County region with a growth rate of 7.6% from 2003-2010
  • Education - Exports valued at $403.9 million with a growth rate of -1.4%
  • Financial Services - Exports valued at $349.4 million with a growth rate of 14.1%
  • Insurance Services - Exports valued at $150.1 million with a growth rate of 16.1%
  • Telecommunications Services - Exports valued at $54.4 million with a growth rate of 5.2%
  • Travel and Tourism - Exports valued at $503.1 million with a growth rate of 5.9%

Agribusiness and Food Processing

An often under recognized supporter of economic growth, agribusiness and food processing industries represent new opportunities for regional growth:

  • Agriculture - Exports valued at $223.3 million in 2010 for the 12 County region with a growth rate of 3.9% from 2003-2010
  • Food - Exports valued at $164.8 million with a growth rate of 6.7%
  • Forestry and Fishing - Exports valued at $21.2 million with a growth rate of 7.7%
