White House Rural Council - Made in Rural America Regional Forum

Friday, September 5, 2014
08:00am

The White House Rural Council, the Appalachian Regional Commission, the U. S. Department of Commerce, and the U. S. Department of Agriculture invite you to participate in a regional forum on expanding international market opportunities for rural manufacturers and value-added producers. To be held September 5, 2014 at the invitation of U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, the forum will feature a keynote address from Commerce Deputy Secretary Bruce H. Andrews and remarks from the Senator and ARC Federal Co-Chair Earl F. Gohl. Attendees will also hear from experienced exporters and from local, state, and federal international business professionals about ways rural firms can access new markets and customers abroad. The full-day forum will take place on the campus of SUNY-Cortland in Cortland, New York. A draft agenda is available on the registration site

The regional forum is part of the “Made in Rural America” series of activities that highlight the role exports can play in helping rural firms grow their markets and in helping rural communities add high-paying jobs to their local economy. It will also help rural community leaders learn how to position their regions to attract and prepare for foreign investment. More information on the Made in Rural America initiative is available on the White House website.

In addition to ARC, USDA, and the Department of Commerce, other participating agencies include the Export-Import Bank of the United States, the Small Business Administration, NIST-Manufacturing Extension Partnership, Empire State Development, CenterState CEO, the Cortland County Business Development Corporation, and the Southern Tier East Regional Planning Development Board. For more information about the forum, please contact ARC at exportnewyork@arc.gov.

The forum will take place on the campus of SUNY–Cortland from 8:00 a.m.to 3:00 p.m. on September 5; lunch will be provided. The event is free of charge, but advance registration is required by September 3, 2014.
